Symbols of Gay Male Individuation in the Wizard of Oz

Following the two articles I recently posted about the history of signs and symbols involved in the LGBT movement (http://tinyurl.com/acabtq y http://tinyurl.com/bgbhxb ) I would like to add another link that I was lucky to get hold of 14 years ago. Its author is Robert. H. Hopcke and its title: “Symbols of Gay Male Individuation in the Wizard of Oz”.

In its pages not only will you go through an authentic “behind the scenes” of this iconic film, you will also find full detail of the gay signs and ideas that have been discovered in it. You can find a similar approach in my article
http://tinyurl.com/bgbhxb where I give details about the distinction between Kansas and the Land of Oz or let’s say, Appearance and Reality; and how the truth of being gay is treated as a myth of masculine integrity and the subsequent female subside. If you feel interested in the topic, do not hesitate to read it. You’ll comprehend why in the wonderful Land of Oz, right over the rainbow, not everything is what it seems…

Kens, gay animation short film

Versión inglesa de este artículo que contiene un vídeo, publicado en este weblog el 19 de enero de 2009. ver en español: kens o italiano: kens

The first time I saw this video I got the shivers. It's about KENS, a 3D animation short video written, directed, and. produced by Pedro Pablo de la Llave. I liked it a lot.

When love takes you by storm, and suddenly invades you and is requited, we think that nothing can destroy it. Not even all the obstacles in the world would be sufficient for that purpose. KENS wants to communicate, convey to us something similar and leads us even further, when suddenly you see yourself in the past, as a teenager, reliving your first loves and disappointments, with all the difficulties encountered and experienced at that time and the choices that helped you to overcome them. Believe me when I say that gays and lesbians know a lot about this, especially if we had the "good fortune" to live our sexuality in full from the beginning of our teenage years, when the street was uphill and even harder to walk on if you were regarded as "different" ...

But the video also made me look at the present, see the barriers of relationships in adulthood, with the difficulties they involve in living together and the day-to-day problems, and also with the complications arising from social barriers ... That is to say, all these new obstacles you can overcome more easily when the beloved complicit hand is firmly holding yours ...
